My main issue is that "May It Be" (lost to a good song I don't remember) and "Gollum's Song" (wasn't nominated) are more deserving. "Into the West" is alright, but "Kiss at the end…" is more pivotal and hilarious and touching, imo. I'm not upset with that decision, but I do think the prior two LOTR end credits songs

the song (the refrain) is insanely catchy.

Back to the Future's soundtrack is incredible.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Terminator 2, and Jurassic Park all have excellent effects, and I'm pretty sure Spider-Man 2 deserved that (although Azkaban has some nifty effects, too).

It worked in Les Mis.

Zemeckis *can* be amazing with his use of effects. Cast Away had amazing special effects that are so good you have no idea it's not real.

Well, in those cases I actually think Button has brilliant special effects all throughout the film. Iron Man was awesome, but it's a little hokey in few spots (he jumps around a lot when he flies, for example).

I thought The King's Speech deserved to beat out The Social Network.

Also, Million Dollar Baby won the Best Picture category, so something is clearly wrong.

The original/adapted screenplay rules don't always make sense, too.

Sounds good. I'd say at least watch the first one. That one you can just sit back and enjoy for the fun alone, with a little less thoughtfulness.

"Its period trappings may date it as a relic of a particular time and place, but as a portrait of the tragic consequences of blind hatred for the “other”—and as a work of exuberant cinematic song-and-dance artistry—West Side Story remains a timeless classic."

I agree. I liked all three quite a bit. The middle film has a strong story, and I like those two as allies.

oh yeah, I also finally watched "Silence of the Lambs" this year.

"A Fistful of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More", and "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

I came here to see if they were included.

I looked back at the review and it was a little better at second glance. I'm just annoyed with the focus of so many on "WOW the book isn't *that* long." The comments section is worse than the review.

I watched The Hobbit (3), and checked this site's review, which was terribly smug and overwrought, as were most of the comments. As a film, it was better paced in the second half, with overall the least amount of story and character development, but a good epic battle. I still think there should have been two films

the Tree of Life clips were more interesting and better paced in this small copy than in the film itself.

best surprise: Guardians of the Galaxy
best theater experiences: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, or Interestellar
most unnerving: Gone Girl
most overrated: The Grand Budapest Hotel
oddest Biblical adaptation: NOAH
