He's definitely in the Lennon/ Morrissey camp of crafting gorgeous, humanistic music that perfectly encapsulates really potent emotions on record, and then acting like a misanthropic dickwad in reality.

Oh, I got a lot of Futurama vibes from this one. "They're kneeling before me. This feels about right" is such a Zap Brannigan line.

I feel like the Martin 2/ Finn parallel would have been more effective if it hadn't been so explicitly spelled out. I get that Kim/Xayaphone have a much different style than say, Moynihan, but it still felt too on-the-nose.

He does have experience with post-apocalyptic settings.

Killer Mike- "2 Sides"
Harold Budd & Brian Eno- "Late October"
Spank Rock- "What It Look Like"
Nick Cave & Warren Ellis- "Rather Lovely Thing"
St. Vincent- "The Bed"
Unwound- "Valentine Card"
Burial- "In Mcdonald's"
The Amazing- "Deportation Day"

I really hope you meant to type "goon".

TREMENDOUS!

Always an upvote for Deerhoof and Sufjan.

XTC- "The Meeting Place"
El Guincho- "Bombay"
Gold Panda- "Burnt-Out Car In A Forest"
Timber Timbre- "Hot Dreams"
