Mild spoilers, obviously:
Yeah, it's pretty awesome, but much more about Thanos than the Surfer (to the extent that the good stuff happens over in the Thanos Quest mini). But it's a great reintroduction to Starlin's best characters, who at hat point hadn't been published in new comics for like 15 years.
It's been an insanely fun book so far. I still have a special place in my heart of Steve Englehart's run in the 80s (as well as the short Jim Starlin run afterwards, though that was more a prequel to Infinity Gauntlet than a new take on the Surfer), but this has been the first Surfer I've read that has a sense of…
Nah, it's all about Elsa finally coming out as a lesbian. She "opens up the door" (to the closet), stops trying to "conceal, don't feel", and "let[s] it go." It's pretty much all there in the song:
Most of the Annas I saw were younger sisters of Elsas. You know they also wanted to be Elsa, but was forced to be Anna because she's the younger sister. Occasionally a male sibling would be Olaf. For whatever reason, no one dressed as Hans (who is this Hans?).
I'm going with "because Penguin knows Gordon is ultimately honest, so plans to use him to help take down Falcone later." Telling Gordon to do something dishonest doesn't work, but pushing him to do one mostly-honest thing over another mostly-honest thing does. But it's a long game that could take a long time to work…
I suspect the complaint is not that he's not as badass yet or whatnot, but that his whole backstory—CEO of huge company who took a liking to killing—has seemingly been erased. Hell, that could have made a great episode on its own. Or, I don't know, maybe they could even have strung it out over several episodes by…
The Helium Knight
Kirby Krackle.
If you're already trade-waiting, you might also check out the Marvel Unlimited app/service. It's basically "Netflix for Marvel comics," but with a genuinely good catalog—pretty much everything goes up about six months after publication, and the back catalog is pretty amazing, though there are some gaps, esp. with the…
Well, I'm a little less worried about this with Comixology than with most other DRMed platforms, since both of the major publishers have made Comixology their exclusive digital distributor and have specialized apps. It's possible that one or both will split off from Comixology in the future, but there's about zero…
Or that they really want to do an Annihilation movie, but had to have something lead into it, since otherwise no one would have any idea who any of the characters were.
But even many biographies suffer from the same problem—it's really hard to write a biography that is a solid read from start to finish, without periods that drag in the middle, trailing off at the end, etc. But, except for a few major figures like Lincoln, there's very little market for the "narrative of a single…
The great irony is that the early Disney animators were fine with women, but couldn't draw realistic men, to the point where they cut out about 1/4 of Snow White because the Prince kept coming out wrong (either disfigured or too feminine).
It didn't so much look like she was high on coke as that she was just bored and didn't want to be there (coke would have made her much more manic, though I can sort of see how one would confuse the ultra-choreographed dancing for mania, but, again, if you look closely it's like her body is doing the moves, but her…
I, too, was hoping that, especially since filming this would have offered plenty of cover to do a secret scene for Day of the Doctor.
Here you get at the real difficulty with tackling the issue of the racism of historical figures: racism might have been common at the time time the person lived, but it was not universal. The fact that you had others of about the same age who were not racist/antisemitic (at least to the same degree) really takes away…
You know, I noticed that too, but didn't put it together that it was a hint at his sexuality. Instead, I interpreted it as a "we both feel out of place here, in this white men's club" sort of thing. Would be very interested in rewatching that scene to see how it plays with Hussein's sexuality in mind.
And, hey, wasn't it John Hurt who sold Harry his sonic screwdriver… Straight from the War Doctor himself.
Haha, that would be kinda hilarious.
