@avclub-eb573591cef285c12701571987b08381:disqus The Lucifer series is pretty interesting, and definitely gets into territory previously off the table for DC.  But it was written in the past thirteen years, starting several years after Sandman had finished up and just before Preacher ended its run.  Perhaps more

The early Cerebus books are pretty damn good (okay, not the first volume, but High Society and Church & State); it's sad that Sim went so far off the rails.

Is it that insane to think this could be released now?  I can think of a half dozen Vertigo series off the top of my head that have gone to ten volumes in reprints.  Or is the industry in much worse shape *right now* than it was just three or four years ago?

It also fits nicely with the whole screwed up nature of the 20th century—both world wars occur while Dream is imprisoned, for instance.

Yeah, that story sounds familiar.

What @avclub-489acfbfa4d2424403acb81699170ac2:disqus said.  They are basically oversized hardcover reprints on high quality paper, with high quality inks.  Some of the issues (most of the first 20 issues) have been recolored.  I kind of doubt they will ever release a better looking print edition of the issues, but

Yeah, I just had to buy them for myself as well.  Fortunately, Amazon always seemed to have them on ridiculous sale or I would end up with an amazing Barnes & Noble coupon.  But I haven't brought myself to buy volume 5 yet because, well, I no longer have money and it seems less essential in the "big and pretty" format.

But is that so uncommon in a first issue?

@avclub-0f0d67e214f9fef69b278e3d08114da9:disqus After Allan Moore left Swamp Thing, it was taken over by its long-time penciller Rick Veitch.  Veitch quickly got into a storyline where ST slowly travelled back in time, meeting major figures, etc.  Near the end of Veitch's run, they worked out a deal where Neil Gaiman
