The original release of the X-Files was even more expensive than that.  It was, if I remember correctly, one of the first (if not actually the first) tv shows on DVD (it was definitely the first full season set), and Fox had absolutely nothing to go on for pricing, so the seasons listed for like $99 or maybe even

I saw the horse puppet on tv and thought for about 30 seconds it was a real horse.  And then I suddenly realized it was the puppet and was like, hot damn, that's an awesome puppet.

Even if you liked sports, Quidditch is the stupidest sport ever invented.  It's a team sport where 99% of the time everything hinges on whether a single player happens upon a golden ball before another single player, while his teammates seem to be playing an entirely different game.  In other words, it's a sport

I don't really endorse @avclub-e57f718840a576abbb40a7d046c4e3b0:disqus's approach, but I wouldn't say he "read things wrong."  First off, he has said he doesn't use it for good literature (and, I will agree that Pnin is awesome—one of my favorite novels).  Second, there was an interesting study last year that

@avclub-e57f718840a576abbb40a7d046c4e3b0:disqus There was a much cheaper way to do that; back in high school, I picked up the Oxford Companion to English Literature and the Concise Oxford Companion to American Literature.  They were basically encyclopedias of major novels, authors, literary movements, concepts, etc.

I think I made it through the first half of Season 3, but looking it back up on wikipedia, I barely remember this shit.  It was just so awful!

I have an awesome New Wave compilation with the "not at all what it says on the label" name of "Ultimate New Wave Party 1998" (everything is late 70s/early 80s).  The only problem is the tracks run together and aren't cut terribly well, so it sounds jarring if one of the tracks comes up on random, but it's a great

I bought the relationship in the context of the movie.  He's a chef, she's a writer, it worked.  Their chemistry wasn't amazing, but that was mostly intentional.  While I find the "schlub with hot wife" trop frustrating, I didn't feel like that was what was happening here.

haha, yeah, that scene was interesting for having intentionally unsexy nudity. It was like Polley's answer to all the teenage boys who assume the women's locker room is some sort of heaven on earth.

As of a few days ago, it could also be rented from iTunes.

The "30 minutes overlong" comment is interesting, because I saw it described in an interview with Polley as having a cohesive beginning, middle, and end, and then an additional 30 minutes at the end.  But, those 30 minutes are critical to the whole movie.  Without them, it's a MPDG rom com with the genders switched.

Don't be turned off by the reviews, it's actually pretty good.  Not the best movie of all time, but a solid movie with a great central performance and good chemistry between Williams and Kirby (if not with Rogen).  A lot of the attitude toward it is basically "it's not as good as Away From Her."
