Re Boreanaz playing an Irishman: according to legend, Spanish sailors returning home after their Armada's defeat by the British were blown off course and ended up on the west coast of Ireland, near Galway (where Angel/Liam was from). Their interbreeding with the locals is alleged to account for the so-called Black

"Young men"
"On June 28, 1969,…young men accustomed to being shuffled into paddy wagons decided to fight back…."

Dear Kielbasa,

When you escape, as he did, from jaw of Hell, you understand which things really matter.

Jordo, it seems to me you're arguing the textual rather than subtextual meaning of magic. Not that one can't or shouldn't do that, I just think we're coming at it from different viewpoints.

SPOILERS FOR BUFFY SEASON 6

Jerry's door lock
"It has only one design flaw. The door…MUST BE CLOSED!!!"

"To Sir, With Love" makes me cry pretty much every time I hear it, and the cast's performance felt surprisingly raw (I mean like, for Glee), so yeah…I was totally bawling.

I was really impressed by her willingness to portray herself as a flat-out bitch, considering how many people believe everything on TV is real.

Truck driver's gear change FTW!

Chap Lippman, I'm not a Journey fan, but—ditto.

I enjoyed "Bohemian Rhapsody" just because it's a great song, but it was impossible not to compare Jonathan Groff to Freddie Mercury, and to say he came up short in the comparison would be a gross understatement.

I've been playing music for 25+ years and I've never heard a modulation referred to as a truck driver's gear change. Yet there's an entire web site called the Truck Driver's Gear Change Hall of Shame!

Her voice
I like Tift's music, but her voice is almost too pretty, too delicate. Directly comparing her to a distinctive singer like Lucinda Williams or an all-time great like Maria McKee really points that up. Taken on her own merits (heh) though, she's a worthwhile artist.

Chacun a son gout, but I like Another Country a lot. It might not grab you immediately, but it really opens up after a few listens.

Three's Company: The Jack Tripper Chronicles, Part VII: The Redemption of Larry Dallas

One of the first concerts I ever went to was Black Sabbath in 1981, on the Mob Rules tour. I was all sad that I'd never get to see Ozzy fronting the bad, but from Dio's first note I was pretty much cured of that. Dude could fucking sing.

And now I have "My Philosophy" in my head, which is just…awesome, actually. Thanks man!

I knew it was only four countries because I've seen the ad a million times, promising babies from Mongolia, Namibia, USA, and then…Tokyo. ARGH! No! You can't go country, country, country, then city! It makes nitpickers and OCD sufferers CRAZY!

Yeah, why no mention of Key Largo in the article? I love it. Bogey and Bacall plus Edward G. and the sadly less-than-famous but awesome Claire Trevor.
