You're right about the cover. If you go on Amazon (when did Amazon become the interet voice of truth?) and click on "Customer Images" on the "Party Music" page, you can see the orginal cover. I think it was supposed to come out the week after 9/11/01, but they halted it, changed the cover, and released it in November.

Yeah, but did you follow those footnotes? One of them goes to a story that says the album WAS released 9/10/01. The other one opens with this:

Monkey hustle.
Man on fire.
Later for the date than the Hadron Collider.
It cost more, and be seeming like a style.
Doom leave the competition steaming like a pile.
Smile.
*Ding*
Sparkling jewels.
In effect like alternate side of the street parking rules.

I can't believe no one has dropped this already:
"You have selected . . . RRRRRRREGICIDE."

It was released September 4th, 2001, but if I remember correctly what a lot of friends of mine who worked in record stores in NYC at the time said, was that they didn't get it shipped to them until 9/10/01, for sale the next day.

And stick it on shuffle.

Teenage porn fan misses the point of porn.

Really, it's in "The City & The City"? That just rocketed up a few spots on my "to read" list. Thanks!

I already tried getting my dues back, but Meatloaf ate them.

I know. Going along with your other comment, I think one of the reasons I love these is because I really want to belive that I can somehow understand my iPod, that's it's a series of gears and clockwork wheels inside. That if I unscrew the back, I could watch it work.

Hours of fun
Google Image "Steampunk Computer" and "Steampunk iPod".

Agreed; I'd like to see Aragones sloppy it up a little bit (in a good way). I'm assuming he did the picture up above. Bart looks a little bit more fluid than usual. I think they should let him go all-out if they're going to use him.

YAY!
Groo / Simpsons Crossover; make it happen!

Did anyone see the HBO "Grey Gardens" film?
Good? Bad? Adds to the original? Over-explains? Kills the mystery? Drew Barrymore? Really?

Really, mbs? That sucks. I met Showalter about ten years ago and he was the nicest guy in the world. But he had come to see something I was working on; he wasn't there to perform himself. Maybe he wasn't "in character".

Here's the product description, from Amazon:
"Part noir, part psychedelic romp, all Thomas Pynchon— private eye Doc Sportello comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the L.A. fog

. . .although before we finish kicking teh dude's lifeless corpse into the gutter, we should acknowledge that not only has this been done before, but done brilliantly so many times (strangelove, duck soup, wag the dog) that it will be interesting to see what this film will add to the genre.

The entire world saw "Wag The Dog"; they just didn't know it.

Awesome. Thank you both! For some reason there weren't many reviews when it came out, and all my other friends who like The Jayhawks hadn't heard it either.

Did anyone hear "Ready for the Flood?"
That's the album that Louris and Olsen did last year. I'm assuming it was good, but I still have not heard it.
