Yes, me too. It wasn't meant to be literal, right? I haven't read the book since I was in high school, so I could be mis-remembering, but I've always understood the purposeful vaguery to suggest that it wasn't literally happening, necessarily.

I've also tried as well, in earnest. Salad Days was so highly praised that I went back to it several times to try to understand what I was missing. Never got it.

I think outright bad is accurate. A movie can be seriously flawed but still be enjoyable, or at least allow you to recognize an enjoyable movie somewhere in the mess. The biggest issue I have with Hook is that, not only is it a lousy movie, it's also really boring. It's just not fun to watch, at all.

I hope we soon get a better trailer for Episode 8. I'm having a hard time getting excited about it because the teaser was just … meh. Not even a hint of what the plot might be.
