I would argue that High Tension is one of the best slasher flicks since the original Halloween. Its problem is that it's cursed with the ridiculous "twist" ending.

Yes, it's great. You can handle it. It's not unbearable.

Wasn't it the house next door? Or no.

I was JUST posting this above. Looking back at some of the initial reaction to Phantom Menace is nauseating (and sobering).

This makes me happy. But after doing some research on the initial reactions to Phantom Menace, I know I must take this with a grain of salt …

I was just saying the same thing above, before I read this far down. Great fight scene.

This was my favorite episode so far. It was great for all the things you mentioned above, and I'd add one other: I thought the fight scene between Alex and Jemm was genuinely exciting and well-choreographed.

My favorite show was all of Shaky Knees festival in Atlanta. Perfect set up. Great bands. Lots of fun. Highlights: Best Coast, Whiskey Gentry, Wilco (of course) and Brand New. But I'm barely scratching the surface.

    Yeah Black Breath!

I'm with you. My other two favorite metal albums this year: Anareta by Horrendous and, my absolute favorite, Children of the Night by Tribulation.

I just couldn't get behind The Sword album. It's just … not metal-y enough.

Glad to hear others saying this. GKMC is something I always return to. Absolute masterpiece. TPAB? I don't know. I see the density and creativity in there, but I am just so uninterested in spinning it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm big into metal, and my go-to is usually Stereogum's Black Market (which only runs once a month). Looking forward to checking this out.

I've noticed that the lists I've seen so far have been widely varied … and I like it! I did not appreciate how strong of a year it has been (mainly because I've had my head stuck exclusively in metal for the past 4 months), but color me mistaken. Speaking of colors, one album that is going to get lost in the shuffle

    SeinFeld … Underwear?

Wait, I'm confused by the confusion. Of course Meg's encounter with Evie preceded Evie's disappearance, because that encounter took place long before Meg was even involved with GR, right? Or does everyone already know this and I'm just saying what everyone already knows?

I agree it was not telegraphed, and I was also genuinely surprised. I think what got me was Patty's line about "you're never going to find them" or something to that extent. I accepted her statement as a fact because I assumed that she was some "all-knowing" spirit, but it turns out she's an unreliable narrator.

That's not the same riff as Cult of Personality. It just isn't.

No kidding! I exclaimed this same thing. Come on, Homeland! Hell even getting pistol whipped in the back of the head like that could kill you. But a metal bat (or pipe)?! Jesus.

This last part is what annoys me the most. Is it really the case that it was just a crazy coincidence that Quinn - a CIA operative whose main job is to bust up terrorist threats - is found nearly dead in the street by a guy involved in a jihadist group?!
