I was telling Mrs. Pontifex the other day that in a few decades some savvy tv producer will start churning out serialized shows about antiheroes trying to keep their nefarious activities separate from their family lives because that's what all the oldsters who keep going on about Breaking Bad like.

It makes little logical sense but I love those sorts of moments in superhero stories.

What a bunch of fucking assholes.

I don't think she ate anything with carbs in it.

There's a difference between announcing you've raised $12 million and actually having $12 million.

DEAR GOD HOW DID I FORGET STACY HAIDUK.

They could have made Lana a queen bee, they could have made her a super-nice super-popular girl, they could have made her a theater kid who wants to be on Broadway, they could have made her a gearhead or…ANYTHING ELSE and it would have been better.

There's only been the two, Annette O'Toole and Kristin Kreuk, unless you start counting whoever played her on the live-action Superboy pilot in the 50s. Lois & Clark, IIRC, didn't include Lana in any of their Clark-in-Smallville episodes, but DID have an old flame of Clark's who really probably should have just been

How many "D"s in Kiddering, chief?

All due respect to Ms. Durance, but I was hoping this would involve Dana Delany.

It was bizarre that they basically created a character who acted just like Lana did in the Superboy comics, gave her a different name, and then had a character actually NAMED Lana who had no personality.

IIRC, Feingold said no, in part because he was already focusing on a rematch with Ron Johnson in 2016 and, well, look how that turned out.

Right. There's a nontrivial segment of the electorate that just does not like the idea of a recall, no matter how much they dislike the officeholder at issue.

Part of the problem, as I understand it, was that the WI Dems were hot to trot on recalling Walker, but didn't stop to see if there was a viable alternative willing to run. They were convinced that filing the petitions for the recall made Walker losing a done deal, to the point that at least one senior Dem said

Part of it was that he was trying to get OTHER mainline Republicans to drop out. Add up the votes for Jeb/Kasich/Rubio/Christie in the early primaries and Trump loses badly. But the normalish part of the party couldn't get behind one of those candidates, or convince the others not to run.

Who isn't, weirdly, the Russian ripoff of Canada's Guardian.

Note that every time Julia Roberts calls him, he's DOING SOMETHING — hosting a dinner party, attending an author reading, generally having a life - while she's wasting her friend's wedding weekend with insane plots. And, crucially, no one else in the movie is doing what she's doing - Cameron Diaz and Dermoy Mulroney

So it's the best one starring Nicole Eggert, is what you're saying?

That movie is an underappreciated treasure.

Teacher-student was common enough that there was a song about it (it was covered by She & Him a few albums ago). I cannot wrap my brain around that.
