No way - LOST was a weekly fix of weird TV that was a welcome distraction from grad school. I liked watching it and talking about it with my friends and Mrs. Pontifex. The spring before it aired, during a particularly baroque episode of Angel, I lamented the fact that when Angel ended there wouldn't be anything

Was it really that risky? X-Files ran for nine years, two movies, and a revival series and there may be more episodes down the line. Fox has made millions and millions of dollars from the show, syndication, licensing, etc. Even if some of it wasn't great, are we worse off for having had X-Files?

You could have just ended that post after the word "fans."

"…so then Leo sez to the bear, he sez, I didn't come here to hunt!"

I was fine with the final episode. I rarely get mad over finales that aren't how I imagined them to be - I figure if a bunch of talented people make a show that gives me years of entertainment for no or minimal cost, they can end it however they like.

Three Mays of the Condor, surely.

"I AM THE ONE…who says Brad has something to ask you, Debbie!"

I got that reference!

Mrs. Pontifex and I saw Almost Famous two weeks before we got married and I thought about calling off the wedding and driving to LA to marry Zooey.

Dana Delaney, Winona Ryder, the blonde from Roxette, Sherilyn Fenn, Kristy Swanson.

"I'm a boat captain!"

True, but at least most of them had things to do. Matthew's last season consisted of him standing around and looking confused.

…and has been cultivating Stan all this time.

Does that make Gabriel Bub or Uncle Charlie?

The bearded stalker look reminded me of one of Daryl Zero's disguises.

You'd think they'd start with Bitch Witches of Rhode Island, then do Bitch Witches Prom, and then Bitch Witches Christmas as a cheap attempt to cash-in on the good name of the first two when the second one comes out in paperback.

China Beach did a whole season of time jumps, catching up with the characters at various points in their lives after the war.

Oh. We just started watching season 1 and we're only 5 episodes in.

Firestorm looks pretty good over on CW; I could see similar effects working just fine for Firestar.

That was one of my main stumbling blocks with the book as well.
