I agree with you. I think this and Avatar are so much better since the writers can't just fall back on sensationalism and knee-jerk cynicism and they can be positive without being too sentimental and just have fun. I like good dose of entertaining sex and violence as much as the next person, but not every story needs

I'm sure there would be many sticky legal points about a situation like Don's, but that wouldn't be one of them.

It's been a while since I've seen the episode but I think he did tell Betty about his brother when she confronted him and they had a moment of connection (while poor Miss Ferrell sat forgotten in the car). It was wrenching, he opened up to her but it was too much to take in and she rejected him in the end.
