Speaking of, I would happily argue that Gone with the Wind is much more racist than Song of the South. But really, what's the point? They're both racist.

Oh, I wasn't arguing that. I don't love Gone with the Wind myself, but as long as you (in general, not you specifically) recognize it's racist, you can still think its merits outweigh its faults. I love Dumbo wholeheartedly and think it's a fantastic movie, but I would never deny it's racially problematic.

I bought Volume 1 on blu-ray when it came out. I knew about the racism going in, but I was unprepared for the level of violence! Itchy and Scratchy is barely an exaggeration.

I would never tell anyone to skip episodes, but keeping your finger on the fast forward button during the James/Evelyn Marsh scenes is not a bad idea.

I got the blu-rays and rewatched the first two episodes last night, plus the end of the international version of the pilot…there is A LOT in the pilot that plays exactly like Fire Walk With Me.

Have you read the original screenplay? I haven't seen The Missing Pieces yet, I'm not sure if all of the deleted scenes are there, but almost all of the dialogue in the bar scene is a callback to earlier (deleted) lines.
