If they gave an Emmy for being a badass, she could submit this episode!

Nothing really to add to what's been said about this nearly-great episode, other than as a 27-year-old, I've been thinking a lot about the philosophical malaise that creeps into every day life a lot recently. Odd to see my thoughts reflected in a Simpsons episode.

Will you marry me, Bill? I've got the wedding bell blues!

You have very idiosyncratic views, sir, but I have to say that you are coming off better in this comment thread than @avclub-a77bbfb6de4d3666da562c4be8eb5c54:disqus does, although I probably agree more with him/her.

@avclub-0f2a88b3b0df4b2cca4df1e6c67af432:disqus Again, the NRA did cancel their rally. They only held their yearly required-by-law voters' meeting, at which Charlton Heston did not say "From my cold, dead hands."

@avclub-7f538a2a6877984c16a663af38fb84d3:disqus  I thought that part of the problem was that footage ("from my cold dead hands") was not from the NRA rally in Denver after Columbine, but rather from a year later, in North Carolina. Moore synced it up with footage from an NRA voters' meeting in Denver that happened

Really?? What radio station have you been listening to??

Although it should be noted that hit singles from Broadway musicals weren't exactly a pipe dream in 1980 - Dreamgirls had just opened, and "I Am Telling You" became a number 1 hit single.

You don't think that actress comes off as sexy?? I watched one episode with my lesbian roommate, and at the beginning of the episode, she didn't think the actress was very hot. But by the end, she was like, "Wow, I was totally wrong. She is smoldering."

I don't think it's worse than the last season of Scrubs, though, if we're talking about the semi-rebooted season.

My first reaction.

@avclub-825ada08204841b3968f25b4c6f7ebfb:disqus Millie came to Broadway four years before Drowsy Chaperone did.

Lars and the Real Girl is pretty great, though.

Yes, Parker and Stone were sold as the "stars" of Book of Mormon. Also, it's an ensemble piece, with two leads but no real star part.

Assuming those investors (investor, singular?) don't want to pay to keep the show running every week, they will need a draw. Tourists buy tickets to shows with movie stars in them, and frequently, shows with nobodies close quickly.

I was thinking that too. I love The Frogs, don't get me wrong, and if it's anyone's favorite Sondheim musical, it would make sense that person is a composer, but Tom's not that kind of composer.

The paperbacks were really cheap a couple of months ago! Supply and demand, I guess.

I'm sure that there are reams of fanfiction already in which Ivy and Karen have explicit sex. The Broadway internet fanbase is weirdly into lesbian fanfiction.

The Greeks did the same thing…

Even while recognizing that the emotional throughline was forced at best and the plots were re-hashed, I have to say that I laughed loudly at a lot of that stuff. Especially the cat with the red eyes.
