I mean, Jennifer Lawrence is a pretty girl, but I think she is way prettier as a blonde in 60's fashions than she looks as Katniss.

Is this a pun?

I wish any season other than the first were on DVD.

I bought the first season immediately, having heard nothing but great things from my parents and other relatives about the show. I would really like to see the other five seasons, someday.

Four of the five shows? Are you not counting Promises Promises as successful? It certainly was. And The Apple Tree was a success for Roundabout - a not-for-profit theatre company that makes money from subscribers and has in its mission statement to revive old musicals that are less-than-commercially-feasible titles.

A far better argument is that MST3K (a much smarter program than Family Guy, we can all agree) routinely references obscure older TV shows (as well as all other forms of pop culture) and makes actual jokes about them. Unfortunately, for any generation younger than myself, MST3K is an "old" TV show itself.

Ah! I was wondering who that actress was. I'll have to watch that scene again.

I didn't see Beth Riesgraf…where was she?

I would like a GIF of Shannon Woodward in that scene, please.

Me too! I love her, and wouldn't mind seeing more of her.

It's a metaphor for interracial marriage. Clearly this show is written by right-wing bigots.

And to be fair, he was only one year old.

@twitter-20572493:disqus I don't see how the show could've set it up any better - Tessa wrote a poem about how her mom abandoned her, and then there was the scene that @avclub-19db33a7920e55ba3a32ab69d87f65b8:disqus mentions. The only way it could've been any more obvious is if it hadn't been a joke and Tessa came out

This comment would've been even better without the edit.

While I was watching this episode, I was thinking, "This is how you do it, USA! This is a quality show!" Too bad they can't get Jeff Eastin to run all their shows, or I might be watching Fairly Legal and Covert Affairs too.

They frequently close streets in Brooklyn to film. They tend to use Brooklyn streets as a stand-in for Manhattan ones, but they do film in Manhattan too.

Thank you for that.

Sorry @avclub-d44516e88a548ff1b4d73b7f9ee80a0a:disqus , I meant to imply that when I wrote that Jonas currently resides in NYC - being immersed in the theatre community here sometimes makes me forget that everyone else isn't operating from the same base of knowledge that I am.

Yes, it says two things: 1) Nick Jonas will bring in more youthful eyes to the show and 2), Michael Buble lives in Canada whereas Nick Jonas currently resides in NYC (where the show is filmed).

That "intervention" is probably the most realistic aspect of musical theatre in NYC this show has shown so far. It might make you gag, but that was probably the only true part of the episode last night.
