Life of Pi must be the most starkly divided film I've ever seen.  The whole story, from the point when the ship starts to sink, was both visually stunning and absorbing as hell.  But almost everything else, before and after it, was straight-up deathly.  I think I was checking my watch about ten minutes in.

I just clicked on this review at random, having only seen (not all of) the first season years ago, and I assumed back then it was him, because he was an outsider to their circle with ambitions to be a writer.  Seemed too obvious, though.
