I defend parts of Around the Sun, of all things, but somehow I can't persuade myself to make an effort with Accelerate.  Every time I've heard bits it just sounds tired, rote, an 'our last album didn't rock so now we do rock' sort of thing.  Plus there was a weird sense that they were deliberately covering themselves…

Let's just all agree that they should have replaced ghostly old guy with ghostly Jar-Jar.  How WAS that lovable gungan horribly murdered, anyway?  All I picked up was that it involved an adjustable spanner and a length of piano wire.
