Scarlett was pretty blank in Match Point (as alwyas), but overall I quite enjoyed it.
One reason I'm glad they're together is that they now avoid the whole "will-they-or-won't-they!" that often dogs these setups. Fraiser, Cheers, etc. Now they can break up or not and avoid the inevitable letdown. Other than that Flames, I pretty much agree with your points.
For those who yearn for Dustin Hoffman vs. giant squid? And I'm not talking Whoopi's hairdo!
Amelie LOVED your standup dude. Seriously, go check it out.
And he speaks … um … mandonese. He can do anything!
When Alison Brie said she didn't think penises were all that great Liz was nodding in the background. Very funny.
"If I give you another fifty, will you not finish that sentence?"
I had it on mute and both my wife and I cracked up. Definitely the way to see that ad.
Good God who gives a shit?!? It's, its; champing, chomping; harks back, harkens back. If you can understand the sentence, let it go.
I enjoyed Minority Report until the third act as well. Partly the eyes thing (in addition to the already stated, who would have thought to keep them?), partly the happy ending and partly the fact that, when you consider it is a Dick story, the movie really should have ended with the Cruise character in deep freeze.
I've always had a soft spot for the Matlock episodes guest starring Tiny Lister.
Dijon - You're not nuts and I can certainly see why you feel that way. It did come together more for me than Magnolia, but it did feel a little disjointed. The performance of Lewis though, uplifts that movie quite a bit.
You don't need to. That's what the internets is for. Plus you can edit out most of Hoffman's disturbingly grub-like belly.
Magnolia was interesting, but a little like watching a master-class in acting, as opposed to a gripping movie. I expected an earthquake, but got a rain of frogs.
As with every other commenter here, I disagree some. But overall, a pretty good list. Since no one has mentioned it, I'll throw out some love for Adventureland. Probabaly wouldn't make my tops of the decade list, but definitely one of the most surprisingly enjoyable movie experiences recently.
Many years ago there was a feature (Rolling Stone?) about country music and how, although we think of early rockers having tragic lives, country seems virtually littered with depressed suicides, drunken car accidents and drug overdoses. A lot of these features certainly back up that characterization.
Tom wants you to be comfortable while he does his thang.
Martin - MacBeth. Ovid too if I'm not mistaken. It's kind of like a poetry mash-up. I rather like it.
Meh. Tom's awright. I think he'll show up again as "Lou Reeds for my Oboe".
