The pacing was excellent. You feel like you're in safe hands with this show. Tessa's low-key reaction to her mother's no-show. Then the reveal that she was in Chatswin, which would have happened earlier in Tessa's timeline but was revealed to us as she was on her way back…it was really well done.

I really don't know what to make of it either. Sheila even says "guess who's coming to dinner?!" It's acknowledged that they're on terribly shaky ground, but she's so pleased about it all as well.

I think you're on to something. We're not used to normally middle-aged women appearing on tv, and comparing them to men. Some people on here seem to have real issues with it.
