Interesting. As an about-to-turn-30-year-old, most everything on Energy sounds just as fresh and vital to me as it did when I was a teenager. I've outgrown so many ostensibly similar bands over the years, but Op Ivy still resonates with me for reasons I can't fully articulate.

Tony Siragusa … whatta dick

She's right, it is a perfect Christmas flick, in addition to just being the best all-around action movie ever made. Great mix of tension, thrills, humor, and just the right amount of sap. Die Hard and Gremlins make the ultimate Christmas Eve double-feature.

@jayallencampbell:disqus Clearly a lot of people like him, but I'm just not a fan of the kid. I thought Finally Rich was a damned mess. He's got bravado, that's for sure, but his flow is wack and he has nothing interesting to say.

"That Keef appearance is pretty unremarkable."

I knew Richie "Calhoun" back when he was just a struggling writer hanging around Echo Park coffee shops. Glad to see he's finally made something of himself.

I kind of understand what Chris is saying. I really enjoy "Touch" but it doesn't quite synch with the album as whole. RAM kind of glides along, just building this perfect post-disco groove and then that track comes along and turns things upside-down and you realize that these guys are happy to subvert any expectations

I think the "problem" is with the nature of modern hip-hop rather than the way you experience it. There are fewer filters these days. Dudes have been making their own mixtapes for years, but they didn’t have access to the means of independent distribution that today’s young artists do. Consequently you get an

It's the part she was born to play, baby!

LA Area Burger Breakdown:

Not a big fan of 24 or Hillbert's, and even though it's still a solid burger I've always thought Hut's was overrated.

It's probably for the best that he adopted this look after putting in his time in Midland-Odessa.

Schlaaaaaaang!

The song is *wonderful* yacht rock. So smoooooooth. Makes me want to groove to Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald all day.

It's a great movie, but it's definitely not a wacky comedy. More like a taut, political drama punctuated by some hilarious moments.

I honestly can't understand why they had Rick freak out in front of the group. I'm not going to laud the comics as masterpieces of deep characterization, but the slow burn of Rick's growing insanity juxtaposed against his (mostly) stable outward appearance really did a great job of building tension. Given his

I'm not sure why doniguana dragged you into his argument, since your assessment seems pretty well reasoned, @GenevieveKoski:disqus. Hyden's dismissal of this track, on the other hand, seems to border on irrational.

Subway toasts their sandwiches and serves provolone as well. That's not why Quizno's is better. Quizno's is better because their bread is decent. Subway doesn't seem to get that serving a product which is 50% bread pretty much necessitates that the bread be palatable.

Interesting interview. Ghomeshi's indictment of their new sound is less than subtle. I also can't imagine that the many long-time fans already bemoaning "Heartthrob" as a work of crass commercialism will be thrilled to hear about T&S' desire for mainstream success.

The only amount of enthusiasm for Electric Light Orchestra that qualifies as strange is none.
