As hugely popular as the Breakfast Club is, it seems like this is the year that Charlamagne goes "mainstream" as he's now been a guest on Colbert and the Daily Show to promote his book. The AV Club really really doesn't cover hip hop. There are huge albums that came out with no fanfare on here.

I think it's just as much about him laughing at "a joke" about murdering transwomen as it is about his entire public persona being "controversial" and all the other shit he says and gets away with.

I'm not really clear why he's being propped up as some sort of left-leaning public figure by Daily Show/Colbert as opposed to the guys from Hot 97 or Sway Calloway.

I wish it didn't take him this long and this apology wasn't after he spent days basically saying he had nothing to apologize for on social media, but at least that apology reads like he wrote it himself.
