Have you read the White Boy Shuffle (his first novel)? It's fantastic too. I haven't yet read the novels in between, but The White Boy Shuffle and The Sellout seem to be the ones with the most acknowledgement so they're presumably his best.

Roxane Gay has a wonderful, though incredibly dark novel called An Untamed State and a few essay collections namely Bad Feminist. Paul Beatty recently released a great satirical novel The Sellout and has a few others along with a couple books of poetry.
