I thought Vice was a bunch of people without friends explaining to everyone they were too cool to have friends and that's why they didn't have any, not because nobody liked them.

Can we get a Sam Jackson version of the Hulk, please?
I love Bikini Kill and have a great deal of respect for Kathleen Hanna, but I personally don't think she can compare as a vocalist to Courtney Love or Corin Tucker. She's a great performer and her delivery seems inspired by Poly Styrene, but the other two have a power to their vocals that goes beyond attitude and each…
He's great in Wag the Dog. It's not that recent, but thirty years after The Graduate and certainly a character. I thought he was good in I Heart Huckabees too, sort of a low-key performance.
I think that's how Taken was originally pitched.
You don't have a second set of your S-K records in a fire-proof black box and a third set in a safety deposit box?
Every great band needs to have some novelty or outlier songs and 'Milkshake N'Honey' is definitely that for S-K. I like to put it on mixes or playlists a lot. Friends are always like, 'who IS this?'
I like 'You're No…' if only for Carrie's slinky guitar playing on it. I think it was good for them to show they could have some fun, especially with some heavier topics dominating the rest of the album.
A lot of strong songs on there and 'Ballad' is a great opener in both performance and lyrics. '#1 Must Have' is probably my favorite on the record and really shows off Corin's ability to sing with command, but also sweetly. And 'Leave You Behind' is the best pop song they ever did.
The Hot Rock is my favorite (it's also the first album of theirs I heard, I think in '99, so it holds sway for that reason partly). The first two songs are an incredible one-two punch and the vocal interplay was pretty novel at the time (even now, if you see them do the songs live). Corin's vocals on 'God Is A Number'…
DMO usually sits at about third for me, but I love it. The 'turn it on' part of 'Turn It On' gets my blood flowing every time.
There's probably only three songs on it that I listen to with any regularity and one of them is 'Lara's Song' which should tell you something. Still, as a template for Call The Doctor, I find it at least interesting.
That's definitely a pop song. Okay, how about this:
I think he nailed it with this one:
At a much more deliberate pace, maybe, but I didn't hear it until I read your comment.
I knew we weren't harsh enough on him…
I just burned my tongue on my soup! Campbell's pranked me again!
Personally I think This Year's Model is a better album as a whole. I also think it's better to start with Costello's singles and then dig into his albums. An entire Elvis Costello album is a lot of Elvis Costello for the uninitiated. If I hadn't started with a Best Of collection, I don't know if I would be the fan I…
