the video
of these guys playing "Excuses" is pretty cool, if you're into this kinda stuff

HUH?
So far in these comments this album has been compared to Animal Collective and Yeasayer. I see the similarities, but I'd say all three have a pretty unique brand. And to the fool, yes FOOL, who bashed Odd Blood: don't do that! I just plain don't like that kind of talk.

DPV
was also my fiction professor… just two years ago… and I remember her talking about writing this. She said she would turn on the tape recorder while driving to work and try to rattle off passages she could later transcribe. Kinda cool I guess.

please, ridicule my omitted "o" in the first "to"

stop hatin'
I like Radiohead to much to watch y'all hate on their not-generous-enough charity show. Have we already forgotten that they gave us their last album for free? Sheesh, if you must hate, feel free to hate me; I haven't given any money to Haiti (yet?). Flay me instead, however you want. Feel free to call me a

I would just like to say that I thought Mr. O'Neal's piece was pretty damn solid news reporting. I wish the evening news I watched before the Tonight Show with ______ was as loaded—although some of the allusion was a little over the top (thanks for the links. yes, you're clever). I wriggled with giggles over the

not devendra banhart…maybe r. stevie moore… but i can still dig it

forget TWfSM
this album is raw

good
I like the name Owen Pallett. It has a phonetic finality in the strong dental stop at the end. Very marketable.

Can we talk about allegory?
Noel, you mentioned Greek tragedy… and it is my understanding that that was the source of much hype behind this film. Herzog (and Golder, a Classics prof. at Boston U.) got into the whole project for its semblance to the Oedipus myth. I'm surprised to brushed over that aspect in your

…sucker guy..and, possibly a leprechaun himself. Throughout the film he was wearing shoes, and where do shoes come from? Leprechauns make them. Also, he has a beard, which implicates another obvious leprechaun connection. Someone in a later comment called him "charming," duh, Lucky Charms. Etc. You're right Ms Avery,

also, what's with Hansard's: "I couldn't believe my luck." Ironic leprechaun zinger?

you oughtta watch Once. Pretty movie. And watch his oscar acceptance speech; it's very humble and moving.

better late than never
Watched this today in my film class…an interesting thing to experience with 35 people. Some were squirmers, some giggles, and some just transfixed. I liked it.

suggestion
They should play that 2001 kid's flick Cats & Dogs, for obvious reasons. On a more subtle note, Jeff Goldblum did the voice of the professor in that, and I tend to associate his voice with ominous weather.

Of course… but there's no telling whether they will be tears of sorrow or joy. I just know it will be cathartic.

Tomorrow night…
…upon my return from the 7:30pm screening, I shall listen to this podcast. And if Jonze draws out the 9-year-old in me, as I suspect he will, there is a solid chance I may masturbate a little.

Manifest Destiny!
When will the Onion/AV Club set up shop in Seattle? I think it would do very well here.

This probably sounds silly…
…but I remember him best from that Disney Original Movie "Luck of the Irish" and ever since then I cannot help but think of him as a leprechaun. It is as if every character he plays had the same back-story involving years of experience making shoes and a secret pot of gold…and now we'll

good point… I guess Burton may appear to walk a fine line between "stamp" and schtick… I think it definitely worked on Sweeney Todd in presenting a valid cinematic representation of the work, whereas his Alice may not have much Carroll to it— but there isn't a rule saying an artist has to. A lot of good films are
