The Dover Boys is almost entirely made up of untraditional jokes, which is pretty awesome for the 40's. The "Hey! We're in a rut!" line in and of itself is a ballsy move. Other than the Marx Brothers I can't think of anyone else at the time calling attention to the fact that they are participating in a dumb comedy bit.
