@avclub-1d04064d540beb34e0cc414561bc6f35:disqus , you don't get it.  This isn't about whether Daniel Tosh "hates" women.  He probably doesn't.  And he almost certainly didn't actually want that woman to get raped.  That's not what the outrage is about.   It never was what the outrage was about.  That's what you want

And a note on the fart at the dinner party: who is it ridiculing?  Why does it have to be a person?  It is ridiculous in the moment, in the scenario, in the situation.  It's not expanding the definition beyond all meaning to suggest that things as well as people can be ridiculous.

So he didn't have it in mind, but it's still an acceptable rationalization for blurting out something horrible?  That's good to know.  But it's darkly, horrifically implausible.

Is this why Scott Pilgrim flopped?  This makes me very sad.

You are correct.  Plosives like K are defined by the fact that they represent a complete disruption of airflow, and can't be sustained.

That's a fair point, but I don't think it invalidates mine.  Can you give an example of using a "grotesque" caricature to indicate that you support something, where the caricature is both the point of the joke and the argument in favor of the cause?  But now we're twisting ourselves into knots, I guess.

Why not?  I judge my own culture constantly.  I find it significantly below par.

If Chris Brown had invented rock n' roll, I'd be willing to think about him outside the context of domestic violence sometimes.

God help me, I have heard that song a million times while waiting for MLG StarCraft II games to load, and I want to kill the people responsible.

Talking about it as though it's acceptable (or merely a lighthearted goof of a scenario) is despicable.  It's not the same thing as an act of violence and nobody's calling Daniel Tosh a rapist.  But it's still despicable, and it contributes to the sense of entitlement that allows rape to occur.

No, @avclub-4b8dbaa429f18373947e25594eb17f40:disqus , we can't.  You can't kill racism with plain facts.

Here's the problem.  People assume that it's possible to joke about anything, and it doesn't matter, because anything can be funny.  Since rape is a thing, it stands to reason that rape is funny.
