Question: Phil Collins is widely regarded as a great and influential drummer.  Why then does so much of what he released during the 80s feature drum machines?  I would think that drumming on his own damn records would be something of a matter of pride.

That is a great fucking song, and not even Phil Collins can change that.

That's possible, but less dramatically satisfying.  We know that elements within the Alliance are evil.  If it was only a matter of an evil empire subjugating innocent people, then you've essentially got Star Wars politics, and this show is too good for that.

One of the tragedies of Firefly's early cancellation, I think, is that we never got a good look at what, exactly, the outer rim planets were up to before the core worlds won the war.  For all we know, they could have been up to all sorts of barbarisms.  Obviously, the unification war couldn't have been about ending

A person need not be raised in a religious environment to be moral: morality is a much more basic concept than religion.  But a person who was raised religiously will not easily be able to avoid defining right and wrong in terms associated with their religion, regardless of whether they maintain their supernatural

It's pretty consistent with his sort of comic book approach to fiction.  The stories he tells are all about larger-than life characters intruding suddenly into real world scenarios.  I think those joke moments sort of sum up in the course of a scene why this stuff appeals to him.
