Indeed.  It was always one of my favorite shows; I was among the throng  that saw the movie in theaters.  I definitely agree that something was lost after Dill showed up, but it was always enjoyable.

I don't think it's supposed to make literal sense, but symbolically there's a pretty clear through line.  That confusion is definitely a part of it, because it's all about breaking down the distinction between others and self.  That's bound to be disorienting, no matter how you present it.
