Quean is actually a legitimate word, and would not be a disastrous Scrabble hand at all.  It's an old term for a woman of loose morals, and also used to describe gay men in Australian slang.

Again though, you'd have to show that the management had reason to believe she was incompetent before they hired her.

Not so, @avclub-d5e66b831e811e769e26fd43f3afe747:disqus .  Her performance after the fact is not necessarily indicative of what the employers expected it to be.  They might have hired her thinking she'd be the best in the field, and then been massively disappointed.  Just showing she's bad at her job doesn't prove

As most of them are?

I'm suspicious of the claim, because this guy sounds extremely disgruntled.  But I think it's definitely worthwhile for there to be some testimony on this.  If Tarascio said that even flippantly, then he created the impression of a discriminatory workplace, and it needs to be settled what he actually said and what the

Actually, I don't think the female employee's competence is relevant.  You don't get to sue for your job back just because the person who replaced you sucks.  The only thing legally actionable relates to this man being fired, not the hiring of the woman.

Unfortunately, he legally cannot deprive all the dudes around him of their livelihoods to do it.

No, I don't suppose they were entirely metaphorical either.  I just think there's a range of possible incidents that could have led to the specific allegations made.

I think that when someone says they did a movie at gunpoint, it doesn't necessarily mean there's an angry man with a pistol just out of frame in every shot.  It doesn't even necessarily mean there was a gun on set at all.  It could be a hyperbolic reference to simply having been forced under the threat of physical

Anonymous is the greatest teenage power fantasy of all time.

In fifty years or so, this conversation will likely be moot, as the word "retarded" is abandoned by the scientific community and replaced by another euphemism, about which the same controversy will arise.  At such time it won't be worthwhile to argue about "retarded" any more.  But it's worthwhile now.

The problem, I think, is that most comedies don't strive for critical recognition the way most dramas do.  As a result they don't get the recognition, and they drag down the worthy few by association.

That was sublime, @avclub-0f0d67e214f9fef69b278e3d08114da9:disqus .

@avclub-6d6efb3c6a17ee7f5c247f5ec88b3f81:disqus , I don't watch Bill Maher, so I didn't even realize I'd been doing that.  My apologies.

And it would be totally worth it.

This needs to happen.  Someone call the producers of House and make sure this scene gets referenced.
