Wikipedia says it lasted 'till 2001. That's two years before Firefly. I found Jewel Staite to be incredibly more beautiful in Firefly than her more recent acting (probably because she had a bit more weigh, which made her look incredible). I'm definitely gonna watch this one.

You are wrong. The show knows what it wants to be and achieves it perfectly : it's a Japanese shonen. I thought it was exactly that from the first few minutes, and it hasn't changed since.
