Leave it to the French to take what could have been a cheesy sci-fi premise and turn it into a chilling classic. One of my favorite horror movies, even if its responsible for THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE and THE ATOMIC BRAIN.

It's indicative of how gutless Hollywood often was that a bio pick about the man who freed the slaves has nothing to do with slavery and an all white cast. I've never understood the cult of director John Ford; I find his movies sentimental at best, and painfully racist at worst. Plus his action scenes suck.
