I didn't say he was good, merely that he was important. His whole schtick was everywhere in the early eighties. For instance, after Turning Japanese faded from memory, the Vapors actually decided to dress up in ant-garb in order to maintain a sliver of relevance; it failed, of course.
Adam Ant was important enough to garner digs at himself from other artists. Captain Sensible devoted a verse of "Wot" to diss Adam, and the Human League devoted a whole song ("Mirror Man") to the same purpose.
