I'm just waiting for the Pete Best biopic.
*how boring TWFM is. High Violet and Alligator have builds and emotional catharses, where this one really does not.
Go Sky! "You're Not The One" is one of my songs of the year.
^This guy gets it!
1. Southeastern (Any list without this is wrong.)
2. Once I Was An Eagle (I love Laura so this was going on no matter how good or bad the album was, but I do like that it's really fucking good.)
Yes! The problem is they don't do that anymore, and when they try it on Graceless it falls short (when they do it live it's the best song they've done, but the studio version kinda sucks.)
Thank you! If that was the hit single I still wouldn't be tired of it, unlike I really, really am of "Get Lucky."
Glad to see Pedestrian Verse make an appearance, but no Laura + no Jason = no list.
Neither did Southeastern! Fuck this!
THANK YOU!
Finally someone gave Macklemore even a little bit of credit. While Thrift Shop is still smug, songs like "Jimmy Iovine" are awesome/
I like both of them for different reasons- Danthology is expertly crafted and very well done, while Earworm as you said is more melodic and all the songs work together to form a mega-pop song.
Also, Dj Drybones' 2012 mix blew everything else out of the water last year. I hope he does one for 2013 too.
I analyzed it using the Dynamic Range meter… this has better dynamics than almost every song covered (DR8.)
TO THA NUUU AGE
That one's great. Love the abrupt transition between the two beats.
I voted for Once I Was An Eagle then refreshed the page and voted for Southeastern because i couldn't decide.
"Upclown girl!"
If you're doing it right everybody will be dancing.
Nailed it.
There are some seriously great ones (The Entertainer, James), and then some really, really terrible ones (Uptown Girl, We Didn't Start The Fire).
That pre-chorus "If I recover, will you be my comfort?" somehow never ceases to be insanely awesome. It's really a great, great pop song and I'm shocked that it hasn't gone Royals-sized yet.
