Huckabees / Olives
I feel the same way about people who hate Huckabees as people who hate olives. I understand, on an intellectual level, how olives have a strong flavor which is maybe not to be expected to please every palate. Still, I can't help but think less of such people.

In fairness, Michael Bay is just as inept at filming action sequences as he is at comedy. Moving the camera very quickly, cutting often, and having a loud soundtrack is to action as a robot dog humping a leg is to comedy.

Lacking strong female characters?
What the fuck? Really? I think Deadwood has incredible female characters.

The thing that really works about Die Hard, though, is that the viewer really believes Bruce is only barely making it out alive. Like, that shit looks difficult for him and it's clear his life really is in danger. So often action movies miss that mark.
