I have seen them - that's what makes me hope he'll be there. To reclaim his shoe at the very least.

I think the reason it played out like this - and it was underlined in Across the Sea - is that the Island has had a history of repeating negativity. The themes we saw in Across the Sea are the same as the themes that have plagued our characters. It's taken this long because Jacob is a hand's off kind of guy, and even

Also - we HAVE to see Christian next week. He was mentioned by Desmond tonight. Also, Jacob talking about the bamboo grove and Jack's proximity to it makes me thing we could see Christian waiting for him at the Light Cave.

The last chapter
I also enjoyed Across the Sea, and I think it helped to add power to Jacob's answers tonight. It's also a stark contrast to see how wise he appears, compared to how he acted last week. I think we also got an answer to a interesting occurence in the much maligned "Stranger in a Strange Land" - the

Does this explain why Locke saw a light the first time he saw Smokey?

I like your last point. It seemed like she was almost playing a game herself - seeing how her sons would turn out if she raised them in the same environment, but with a different set of rules. She told MiB of the Others, exposing him to them, while keeping Jacob in the dark.

Perhaps Jacob was just ready to stop playing the game - his death was quite similar to his mother's.

I think it would have been great as the season premiere.

I wonder if the wine had something to do with the immortality. The mother drank it with Jacob to make him "like her," and Jacob drank it with Richard before granting his wish.

The flashback at the end was a bit heavy handed, but the irony of Locke coming in was a nice touch.

If we didn't get it tonight, there's still the chance for the Monster to reveal his own name - in which case it will be mind blowing.

You were always the one, Jacob
Jacob and the Man in Black seem to be a story of nature vs. nurture. Jacob was raised as wholesome, never encouraged to lie, and to always do the "right" thing, while the Man in Black was the opposite. He was eventually driven to the Others his mother was so scared of him becoming, and

I think Lapidus and the captain were in a totally seperate area. I was under the impression that the first aid was in Jack's pack.

I think Desmond told Sayid that Jack was the one, and it took Jack reasoning for Sayid to believe him. I still think Desmond is aware of both timelines, and all actions, both that have happened and will happen.

As most here know, Jack is my favorite character and Matthew Fox has played the hell out of him. As far as transitioning, I think Josh Holloway has a good shot, and O'Quinn and Emerson are no brainers.

In reviewing it, Sayid said, "It's going to be you, Jack."

Noel, I like the idea of a placeholder and you joining our discussion. Take a night to enjoy it, and talk about it like we do every week, and fill up your journalistic requirements when you're done. It's the LOST finale, you deserve it.

I'm actually becoming more and more intrigued by the sideways world. We still don't really know what it is. Jack and Locke seem to be the key to both timelines, and I like the thought of Jack fixing Locke being a key.

Maybe the Kwons weren't candidates, but decoys. Since there were 2, they would be kept alive longer. They could be stand ins for the real candidate - Kate.

I made a post about this same thing below, but I'll agree with you guys. Bad move on the spoiler post AVC
