Ab Aeterno - "Since the beginning of time"
I think it was just to eliminate a safe haven. It's been said over and over that the Temple is the last safe place on the Island, and apparently Dogen was the protector. With both of those things out of the way, perhaps Smokey is free to go wherever he wants.
If you didn't like The Substitute, Lighthouse, or the ass-kicking, Temple destroying that happened tonight, what is going to impress you?
I'm in the camp that thinks Dogen just wanted Sayid to stab him because Dogen wanted Sayid dead. Dogen was probably afraid that Sayid would be recruited if UnLocke talked to him, so a quick stab might have provoked the beast to act.
All I could think of when I saw those boomerangs was Ethan Mars.
I think it said, "The man responsible for the death of so many people will face his demise."
I see Jacob as someone who believes in faith and belief. Unlike the Man in Black, Jacob doesn't provide answers. He has caused various people to endure trials and tribulations, some of them without even seeing them. He has asked them to believe.
The opening fight was a great way to get the episode started, and the Keamy ass kicking was a nice touch. Add in Smokey murder and it's a perfect trinity.
Two best lines of the episode.
Was it just me or did they spoil Ben's death next week with the tease? Hopefully it was just me.
And behind door number 1…
Jin in the pantry…and this would seem that our off-Island world has it's first real bit of mystery. Up until this episode, the Sideways stories have been fairly self contained. They might have featured a character we've seen before, but the interactions were fairly straightforward. Tonight we…
Not exactly - the punishment for Durians is death.
I agree Noel, I loved to hear why people thought something was "around 73 percent"
"Well, I don't do too much reading, but when I do I like to read Reader's Digest. And Reader's Digest does seem to go to a lot of homes. And if half those homes include men who enjoy steak WITH potatoes, I'd have to say that number is going to be HIGHER!"
I can straighten that out. See that camera up there? I'll strangle you in front of the whole audience.
Irish for Awesome
Terry O'Quinn is at least 16 kinds of awesome. Why does this have to be a TNT-type series. Bone that shit up and prep it for Cinemax.
That's a good point, I hadn't really given it that much thought, but it does seem that we're still encountering Others, albeit in different situations.
I thought last week that the cave was probably not Jacob's. I doubt he would be transcribing the names into a cave beneath the Island. The use of chalk in the cave made me think it had something to do with the mysterious kid.
Something to do? He's busy marketing Suck It
I actually thought that to.
