Meh. He did marry Drew Barrymore, so clearly there's something going on with him, but he sounded remarkably well adjusted on WTF.

Meh. The show goes out of its way to show that the girls get dismissed and moved around all the time (granted, not as much these days, but half the focus of the show now takes place outside the office. we don't see much of the writer's room either.), that Joan is the lady who does that stuff, and that no one cares all…
"It could easily mean, "I see you're having a loser party - can we join you, even though we just landed the account?""
Joan slept with the Jag guy for 2 reasons:
1) she has to figure something out for her family
2) the partners (Roger's) reaction to the situation
whoops
pshhh… Harry's also not supposed to care that much. None of them care that much, except the dude who married the secretary in question, and Harry, who is known for
a) inappropriate targets for his weird sexual frustration
b) inappropriate expressions of emotions, especially why-doesn't-anyone-see-how-brilliant-i-am…
"executive level responsibilities"? Joan's had those responsibilities for the entire length of the show. Who could she have even given those to? (Roger's current secretary— but she's a little nuts and she doesn't want the responsibility/hall monitor role)
No. How does "Mind if we join the lonelyhearts club?" equate to "Screw you losers, we won the shit out of that account."?
@avclub-ddecec1868b6dc0c65e97efdcd6b51cb:disqus You're covering up Pete's manipulation of Roger and Bert by misrepresenting Joan's reaction to the proposition.
As someone who has notifications for AVClub darlings (mad men, the office, P&R, Louie), they pull this shit ALL THE TIME.
Whatever. He deserves more money— that doesn't excuse his behavior or make him not a complete ass, this entire episode. Want more money? Ask for a raise like a goddamn adult.
I'm betting that the Jag story has gotten around based on the Pete's outrage/YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT exchange. And her thing with Roger ups the ante.
Was I the only one who was like UHHH YEAH. FIRE HIM.?
Also the ChowChow is obsessed with those who have worked with/for Don. Peggy is the ultimate one of those.
Peggy's was better, as evidenced by
a) the look on Don's face
b) the fact that her pitch perfectly handles the criticisms/concerns leveled at Don's pitch
c) it was clearly better.
dedicated to @avclub-1df8797177fc3b52be6784aacca7358c:disqus : Ahhh, men. Because even your desire should be governed by their priorities.
Nahhh, the guy knew that Don was shooting the plan in the foot, but there's no way that he got that it was intentional. That's what the conversation with Pete was about— he would have gone nuclear if he thought it was on purpose. "THAT GUY IS NOT A SALESMAN"— meaning he's a creative type. Seriously? Don Muthafuckin'…
he also manages to infuse some sex appeal into all that back hair. It would have been interesting to see if he could turn it off though.
Yeah, they go out of the way to make sure that he's not even cute as a kid. I think that's supposed to be part of the character— he hasn't always been a pretty person (he is the anti-Roger).
Yes. Pete stayed home because Trudy wasn't gonna leave them together. Pete was trying to make sure they weren't alone together so Trudy didn't find out— problem being that Trudy isn't a moron and already knows.
