the first time I saw it was late at night on the sci fi channel, I saw George Lucas' name in the credits and was like "WTF?" I had never even heard of THX1138 before, needless to say, I was intrigued

indeed, I've never understood why the guy didn't make more non-Star Wars movies, he had pretty much all the money and equipment to make any movie he wanted, so why didn't he?
