Todd—I think you need to do more historical research. The slumlord of Notting Hill, Peter Rachman, was the boyfriend/pimp of Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies, aka the women in the Profumo affair who slept with a Russian spy/diplomat as well as a Cabinet minister. The slumlord/prostitution/profiteering plot is

I love that you managed to squeeze another Patton Oswalt mention in here. Shameless.

You sound just like Lix! "Don't forget that dead dog in the sky!"  But seriously, I think it's an interesting angle to define the Cold War as a distraction politicians preferred to domestic problems.

Well, if your romantic rival appears at midnight and gets you out of bed, wouldn't you stay undressed to discomfort her and then sneer at the book you know she likes (because your husband calls her a pet name from said book PLUS you found a photo tucked carefully inside of said husband and your rival on a date years

Same deal.  But I watched the beginning of this on BBCA at my gym, and the whole episode later on Amazon. And I think among a couple of scenes were edited for the broadcast was one at the beginning where Freddie tells Cissy, Lix and Isaac over coffee what Mr. Pike is up to; and Lix says, "How to create a ghetto."

The Notting Hill story is about Pike, the slumlord, who specializes in pushing out whites, driving down the cost of real estate that he will get for almost nothing, then subdivide further

The UK and the US have completely different racial histories. There was no black slave trade to Britain itself. And there was a  vast British Empire, which included Africans and Asians. Wealthy people of color from around the Empire sent their children to  British "public" schools and the Oxbridge colleges as early as

It's so simple. Pawnee is full of people who are completely satisfied with who they are. Other people's opinions are irrelevant to them. That's it.  That's the formula that makes Ron an idol to his friends. And the comedy comes  from  outsiders like Ann and Ben who are flabbergasted by this ridiculous level of

I'd love to know if she has EVER been unable to deliver the surreal stuff they hand her. She's is amazing. I wonder if Tina and Lorne just havent pushed for a nomination for her?

Surely you recognized Gayle! I'd never heard her Oprah impression. Pretty good.

I may be alone here, but I miss the subtlety of the first series.. So far this is pretty linear storytelling without as much biting subtext. And what is going on with the lighting?  Some of the actors are so overlit their faces are glowing blurs.
