You are aware that that's exactly how Phish became popular as well, right? that that's how any jam band that's achieved even a modicum of success has done so? Don't let the weed and patchouli fumes fool you, being in a jam band is fucking hard work. You can't give the Dead a pass for something all jam bands have to do.

This may not be accurate as I haven't watched the DVDs in a while, but season 3 felt to me like an awkward time between the self-contained early episodes and the more serialized storytelling when they really weren't sure where to take the series, so they just flung a bunch of weird crap at the wall and hoped it stuck.…

It's not difficult to envision a version of this show where Howard, Raj, and even Sheldon are all making excellent strides in their relationships while Leonard straggles behind them and gradually stews in his resentment.

Anyone who thinks that show wasn't "turning out accomplished music" has never listened to Fat Albert Rotunda. "Tell Me a Bedtime Story" is a stone-cold classic.
