We were supposed to go out of town but the trip got canceled so we cleared out our Netflix queue which is very rare. "Hunger Games" (liked it) "Batman" "The Dark Knight Rises" (good, a little overlong and lugubrious), "The Impostor" (very good).

I liked it!!! It was very different from most movies, you know, in terms of traditional relationships and so on. I don't know if I'd watch it again and again but I am glad I saw it. Finally, an online commenter has a good influence on me.
I pride myself on not identifying with any part of this show anymore but the part where Hannah was like "FUCK! Nevermind, it's fine" while cooking is pretty much every time I cook.
I really wanted him to hit her back.
Is Shosh the only one who has somehow survived being friends with this crew without being utterly despised?
careful, that's my mom.
My mom would say no. While Rogers was a good man and his show had lots of merit, in terms of entertainment, she found it somewhat saccharine and tedious. That's why I was a Sesame Street kid—she enjoyed watching it with us, and felt it was as entertaining for parents as it was for kids, whereas Mister Rogers didn't…
Jalisa!
MIB is a good one. I don't remember seeing the 2nd one. I didn't object to the 3rd one although I don't know that it was necessary.
This was one of those few movies that, as kids, my brother and I enjoyed as much as my mom (I think it was a little weird for my dad.)
I was on the verge of thinking it was going to be about MLK being a lech but then they rescued it by him saying that he just doesn't want to be remembered as serious and stately for all eternity. On second watch too it wasn't too bad—I think I was ready to hear him talk about him wanting to take a bite out of her ass…
My theory is that the cold open was both an apology and a "lighten up, guys" after the Starbucks sketch from last week.
Good god, I hope that sketch with Bill Hader shrieking does not recur.
I hung out with a friend last night who wrote for him at the Second City/Chicago Civic Opera show and the stories she told just filled me with so much joy. He sounds like an unbelievably delightful person.
Songs from the Big Chair was one of the first tapes I ever bought and I still really like a lot of TfF. I also bought, around the same time, a UB40 tape and I could get down to a lot of that music. Huey Lewis still does it for me too.
my dad cried!
My favorite was that he paired it with regular pleated slacks.
I missed Dahlia.
She was Elphaba in "Wicked"! (In Chicago anyway, not sure if she toured)
I know it wasn't hilarious but I couldn't help grinning through Gasteyer ripping up "Barracuda." I saw her in "Wicked" and it's just great when she belts. Also I really want that Pointer Sisters shirt.
