I don't think Skylar shined tonight but I also feel like she's got a good base—I see her being like a Lauren Alaina or Carrie Underwood who's just sort of slow and steady. We'll see.

I actually thought everyone kind of sucked in the main challenge last night—I was surprised that Chad got praised for her performance, although she did kill it on the runway.

I admit that I ship Jeff and Annie and so I hadn't paid her too much attention but I became a fan of hers via the Pod F. Tompkast. Those stories about her grandpa with the brittle bones had me laughing out loud with my headphones on like an idiot.

As a viewer I like HeeJun for spicing things up but as a person I suspect he's a little bit more of a dick than we'd like to admit to ourselves. But I agree with you re: Phillip Phillips and his schtick re: "image," especially how he basically implied that Steven's not all about the music.

Those are all good points but none of that would ever go down on Idol, where it's always 1960 and we never speak of such things. Maybe on SYTYCD, which actually addresses issues like that.

I think the judges were more jumping for joy for Elise herself, for finally getting the chance to demonstrate why they put her in the show, than for the performance herself.
