Testament to the show's brilliance. I too felt a horrifying escalation of tension even knowing that BoJack was not going to be killed off in this episode.

Except (a) he didn't do what she told him, and (b) she didn't disappear from his life, he went off the rails and disappeared from her life on a weeks-long hyperdestructive bender.

Man, I can hardly wait for the show that is bleaker than BoJack.

It's easy to avoid toxic fandom…and if toxic fandom puts you off watching a show, you're not going to be able to watch anything.

I disagree. If that strand of identity happens to be socially stigmatic, then it can be very powerful validation to see a character who shares that strand represented sympathetically in mass media, and it can also help destigmatise the identity in the wider culture.

To be fair, it is more than just entertainment. A lot of the shows with heavy fandom have identifiable characters and themes that epitomise deep personal values, so I can fully understand why people get deeply attached to them…but I agree with the rest of your comment.

I think it's perfectly OK to empathise with the depression and condemn the damage he does.

In S6E11, BoJack accidentally starts a genocide.

Yeah, but the idea of apportioning blame in percentages really only applies in a legal setting where the court has to work how how much of the damages each party is responsible for paying. In the wider world, blame is a non-zero sum game and in this ep. both BoJack and Sara Lynn are directly responsible for what

I hated everything about Rat Race except that Barbie Museum scene which is pure gold.

Or Doc Savage, Man of Bronze.

True, but then monogamy is pretty damn complicated too. The difference is that the complications from monogamy are normalised in most societies.

Actually, you can't tell all that from the posts. Much as I enjoy Savage's column, one of its unavoidable shortcomings is that it tries to give 1-2 paras of advice based on 2-3 edited-down paras of problem from one person's point of view. In a counselling environment, these issues would be dealt with over several

But…if his ex gets jealous and demands attention and he jumps back to her, then they weren't really exes.

The proof of the Republican party's death spiral is that last election only one reasonable candidate ran for the Republican nomination (Huntsman) and he only lasted 3 primaries (and in Iowa only got 0.6% of the vote!). And this time around, none of the Republican candidates were remotely respectable options.

It wasn't a patch on Lithuanian Gladiators.
