That was my first thought. I half expected it to burst into jazzy horns after that.

Nope. I think this was the best episode this show's done. Brings together the characters, humour, and tight-plotting perfectly. POOP AND ALL.
Ah, that's good to know! I never realised (how could I, really? Although Brandon and I follow each other on Twitter so maybe I should've picked up on that one.)
I think you're missing a wider point that I was trying to make here (and also taking what we were saying far, far too literally, but @avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus more or less handled that).
@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus Oh yes, I know you weren't saying that. And judging by Oliver's Twitter and his mention of "cutest boys" in comics suggests I am correct, which is cool. So there is one! He just mustn't do film reviews.
"In New Normal fashion" = "in the fashion of being surprisingly regressive garbage"
I think so too. It's kinda unacceptable to be getting sub-2.0s in the timeslot it has. It's just not even remotely the right tone/subject matter for the other shows on the night. Not that Happy Endings was much better in that regard, but I always felt it deserved that timeslot if not the post-MF one.
Well I hate to assume, but given that he reviews Drag Race, I kinda just presumed Oliver Sava is gay, but it's very possible he's just a well-cultured straight man.
@avclub-eac75edc18b8546c46893fe4b75ab995:disqus It seems like they could feasibly dump/move away The Neighbours to another night and stick Suburgatory back in its old slot, where it performed at roughly the same levels it is now. It's definitely always affected by American Idol, though, which is to be expected.
I am weird in that now, whenever I catch up on any show, I have to read the reviews of it and grade it. I watched all of Mad Men circa start of season 5 last year and read the reviews for every episode. I have a lot of free time, you see.

I find the whole community vs. review grade thing really fascinating, which is why I enjoy giving episodes grades. It's just a bit of fun, and really not that fascinating since the community grade is usually just one notch below, or equal to, the review, unless it's a pilot.
I don't agree with Rabin on this. It doesn't undercut the tragedy of the first film at all - I actually saw it after YOSSI itself and bawled my goddamn eyes out. If anything, it only enhances it because everyone knows that the idea of "the one" is ridiculous, and it's far for romance-novel-y to suggest that he…
I don't think Suburgatory's in THAT much danger…it still rates better than The Neighbors.
I used to stay up past midnight on Monday nights (because it aired at midnight in Australia because our networks are almost all worse at scheduling than NBC somehow) when I was 14 just to watch it. It's insane that it's ending.
Thirded. This was the show that kicked off my manic television obsession. It's Tina Fey's fault that I'm currently at home on a Friday night with an empty bottle of wine beside my bed. And I love her for it.
NEVER ENOUGH. I DEMAND PERPETUAL NUDITY.
I don't know where else to say this, but this finale, and season, had INSUFFICIENT MANASS.
And the score that accompanies it was always a really effective musical motif.
ME TOO. But then I cringe at 'baby' too.
