I see most modern mall emo as a strange train wreck between hair metal, goth and mall punk. There's a reason why Cursive, the Get Up Kids and Sense Field still ring true for me (and thousands of others out there), and I think Jason did a fine job explaining himself.

Great album. Great band. Odd story behind them I must say. Building is great, but I also really dug their final two records.

Lest we forget Clay Tarver co-wrote the screenplay for Joy Ride.

You Faded
Probably one of the best Chavez songs to introduce to somebody. Hope it does the same for others as it for me when you posted Archers of Loaf's "Lowest Part is Free!" Meaning, it finally clicked in my head that I should check more out from a heralded band.

God's Children
Glad to see this song get mentioned. Not necessarily essential for introductory purposes, but definitely a song a Kinks' fan shouldn't look over.

So . . .
When will Fox adapt 'The Mao Tse Tung Hour' for a modern audience?

My goof. Maybe I missed that as I spent 30+ hours in the past two months watching the entire series, as well as most of the extras. I just thought: "geez, it's like Who Shot JR and pretty much every major cliffhanger ever put on TV."

Season 1 into Season 2
Is it me or does the final episode of the first season seem like Lynch and Frost (and maybe Engels as well) were trying to fit as many archetype cliffhangers into one episode? Great episode no less and leads nicely into season 2.

Jawbreaker and Jawbox win in my book, literally! Though the Jawbox chapter happens two chapters before Jawbreaker chapter, it's for pacing.

I wouldn't mind not hearing . . .
"Internets"

Words to live by from Midnight Madness
"Never walk away from a challenge."

Proceed with caution
I think we all have legitimate reasons to avoid digging deeper with certain genres of music, but they can be short-sighted. Toby Keith doesn't speak for all pop-country, nor does Killswitch Engage speak for all metalcore.

This just sucks.

Lest we forget Dashboard Confessional's tribute to the album a few years ago . . . Or maybe people are trying to forget it.

Red Animal War and Centro-matic
Back in the day, I tried to see every Red Animal War show in DFW, but never knew they played with Centro-matic. It wouldn't surprise me. Then again, the first time I saw Centro-matic was at the Curtain Club in Dallas. (For you non-Dallas-ites, it's the kind of rock club where Disturbed

POWERS
Nice interview Keith. I've always dug Bendis as a person despite the fact I haven't kept up with his work in a few years. I hear Powers is getting interesting with the new Retro Girl and all . . .

re:
Major props for this Kyle.

Live Free or Die Hard
How does anybody here feel about the new Die Hard movie getting a PG-13 rating?

re:
Amen Noel. I'm not sure where the show is going for the next three seasons (let alone next season), but there are so many possible routes it could take.

re: The Persistence of Middle Age
Noel-
I hear what you're saying. I'm glad I don't have to convert to the dark side and listen to Celine Dion and Kenny G and only watch Disney movies as I age.
