Ugh. Really?
I'd even go as far to say that the pilot was one of the best TV pilots ever created. It doesn't seem that way after watching the pile of crap that followed it…but that was a pretty intense pilot. The music…….it was just fantastic.
What did everyone like about that show? It was so turgidly paced…it felt like one of those dreams where you can't quite move as fast as you'd like to…I found myself yelling at the TV, "Do something you asshole!"
The Killing ain't exactly great, but you're the first person around here to defend the Walking Dead.
I actually find it refreshing for a show like this (with so many gray areas) to admit that there are people in the world who are straight up evil.
The critiques of Quarles as "too neat" are just feel like people in search of a problem. Are we really now saying that no movies or shows can ever have psychopaths who were abused as children? Is that really a new rule? Is that like "so 2004" or something? Give me a break.
"Booooooooo!!!!"
The point of the evidence locker subplot was to make you think that Quarles had already begun setting up Raylan as a corrupt cop (it's clear that he's moving in that direction). Remember, Quarles took delight in hearing about Raylan getting info from Boyd + Raylan's father working for Boyd. The show wanted you to…
Everyone who says this episode was a step up needs to judge it as a penultimate episode. Judge it on that curve, and it still sucks.
