It struck me as an inversion of the "male gaze." Instead of a woman, there's a piece of beefcake strutting around for women (and men) to comment on and objectify. Why he needs to be Josh's son, and not just a friend of the family or someone's lover is still mystifying to me.

I still can't get over the fact that Colton is Josh's son. I know they mention the DNA test in the first ep, but in a show that takes a fair amount liberties, this one just feels too far to me. I mean there is ZERO resemblance. Maybe they're trying to make a point about pre-conceived notions, or expectations?

Cool story, bro: If I'm not mistaken, Timothy Olyphant and Katie Holmes' characters eat breakfast at the now defunct Highland Grounds on Highland Blvd in Hollywood. After I first moved first moved to LA, I had breakfast there a couple of times and felt kinda cool.

For a group of (obviously) non-related actors, Casual did a good job of casting Alex and Valerie's parents. You can see Alex resembles his father, while Valerie resembles her mother, but with her father's dark hair.
