U talkin' U Tube 2 me?

How about RedTube? I think that one's not taken… Oh wait…

Cool story bro:
I was actually at this show. It was a lot of fun.

Sex? You know you can do that without procreating these days, right?

I enjoy his podcasts, but wish he would do more research and be better prepared for his guests.

Note to self: Never have children.

I like to a play a version of bingo when out at a show or festival, and spotting an Unknown Pleasures t-shirt is always an easy get.

You mean this show isn't about the Sisters of Mercy? No wonder it's getting canceled. DOMINION!

Way back in the late 90s before Bravo turned into a camp-fest fever dream, they used to show this movie a lot. There's a particular sense of isolation and loneliness to both the mood and characters in the film that I always found affecting. Great acting, and it really does capture a nihilistic, disillusioned side of

"we still see the occasional press junket-style interview" <cough>Owen Wilson<cough>

Great call. There's a shot near the end of Sicario with one character walking away from another that completely reminded me of Chinatown, and not just on a superficial level.

Whatever happened to Amazon's last round of pilots? I enjoyed the Whit Stillman one, and the country club one.

Steve Jobs 2: Back on the Job

No worries. It's been ten-plus years since I read The Black Dahlia trilogy. I'll have to check out some of his more contemporary work.

I agree w/r/t checks and balances, and yeah, it's a ton of work. Hopefully he can let go a little bit.

I was thinking in more broad, hard-boiled detective fiction terms, not a specific one-to-one comparison. Also, the plotting of this season reminded me of some of the Ellroy books I've read that feel like a mess (on-purpose) up until the strings get tightened and the plot begins to take shape right at the end.

Chaz and Dave

Well-said. While I liked season two more than you, I also agree with everything you've written here. Since Pizzolato seems very sensitive to/aware of criticism, it'll be interesting to see how he addresses this season's deficiencies in season three. (If there is one.)

To be honest, I haven't followed the backlash too closely, just seen it mentioned around here and on Twitter, but it seems to stem from a fawning, overwrought Vanity Fair piece, mixed with critiques of how he handled the female characters last season and his response to those critiques, mixed with a general vibe that

Honestly, it seemed like this season started with the deck stacked against it. (Not unlike the show's three detectives.) Even before production started, there seemed to be an unhealthy mix of perilously high-expectations (from season one catching lightning in a bottle with McConaughey's performance and Fukunaga's
