I thought it tied in very well with the whole first part of FOTR, which sustained an atmosphere of creepiness and mystery.  It was fun because of all the stuff you didn't know (who are the riders?  where's Gandalf?).  Jackson's movies are great are portraying the epic battles, monsters, etc., but they had trouble with…

Yeah, the irony of the books was that Sauron didn't need the ring to conquer all of the Middle-Earth in the Third Age.  The only thing he was afraid of was somebody else using the ring to defeat him. 

Exactly.  The Tom B chapters worked great in the book, but there's way they would have fit into Peter Jackson's movie.  He represents an element of the books that the movies weren't at all interested in. 

You must watch a lot of shit. 

Talia Shire was the best part of the movie.  She's an underrated actress, and the character's progession from abused wife to floozy to Lady Macbeth somehow feels natural
Everything else in that movie was crap.

And now I see that Keith made the same joke.  And his version was better.  No need to get the door, I'll see myself out . . .

I met a nice girl who was working for a political campaign, and took her out to see "The Language of Love."  All I knew was that it was a Sweedish documentary - boy, were we in for a surprise!

I loved the orginal movies when I was kid. I didn't need a vaguely racist CGI character stepping in Bantha poop to keep me entertained, and I don't think kids today need it either.

Better Man may be ambiguous, but Rear View Mirror is clearly about domestic violence. It was the first song I thought of when I read the inventory title, and was surprised it wasn't on the list.
