Tropicana looking west doesn't really work. For starters, Hooters is on the wrong side - it would be behind the Tropicana. Not only do his paintings suck, but he knows nothing about the actual locations of the hotels on the strip. I guess it would be sinful for him to actually go to Las Vegas.

Since posting my disapproving comment about this movie, I've learned that both ZMF and Entertainment Weekly share my opinion.
I'm in the dissenting camp here. The gimmick was interesting for about 15 minutes, but it's all the movie has. I don't have anyting against a good noir, but the high school element quickly became distracting and cutesy.
Bonnie Hunt's not bad, but she's no Mary Steenburgen.
